ChippyTheChipmunk

Inspiration

One summer evening in 2008 my niece Kyra spent the night. As we were relaxing just before bedtime, she turned to me and asked if I could tell her a story. I struggled to come up with one even though I used to have a very active imagination. I realized that for some reason I no longer seemed to be capable of making something up. So, to keep her satisfied, I instead decided to tell her about the American Revolution. My lack of creativity and imagination didn't settle well with me. I had recently become a father for the first time and knew that one day my son would be asking me to tell him a story. After Kyra went to bed I reflected upon a situation my parents were having with a chipmunk living in our back yards. A chipmunk made his home in a sandstone wall behind my house and every morning would make a mess behind my parent?s back door. I thought, maybe this situation would be a good bases for a story. After changing a few details and giving the chipmunk a name I came up with this little story. Thanks to Kyra for inspiring it and to my sister for proofreading it. I hope everyone enjoys the story.
Dedication
I dedicate this story to my son, all my nieces and nephews, one special little girl named Callie from Point Marion and to the memory of my grandmother, the real Yole.
