My Great Grandmother Mattea Columbus Liberto with my Great Grandfather Giovanni Liberto and their oldest son John. Census information leads Brian Columbus to believe this would have been taken in Louisiana around 1904.

Mattea was the first of the Columbus siblings to immigrate. She came in 1900 to New Orleans, where her husband previously travelled. Mattea and Giovanni (or Mary and John) would have five more children before he died at the early age of 36. Mary then had another daughter with her second husband, John Chiera.
